The Story of Our Cashmere

At Palome, each piece begins with exceptional Grade A Mongolian cashmere, chosen for its softness, clarity, and lasting comfort. Exquisitely soft to the touch, naturally warm, and carrying a delicate sheen, our cashmere brings a quiet refinement that can be felt from the first wear.

Where Palome Warmth Begins

In the quiet expanse of the Mongolian highlands, cashmere goats grow a downy undercoat to endure the long, cold winters.

When spring returns, herders gently gather these fine fibres by hand, selecting the raw fleece with patience and care.

The Strength of Fine Fibres

Each Grade A fibre is exceptionally fine, light, resilient, and gathered only once a year.

Through careful sorting, washing, and spinning, the raw fleece is transformed into yarn with lasting softness, natural warmth, and unusual strength.

Rarity, patience, and craft give our cashmere its enduring beauty.

A Gentle Commitment

All Palome cashmere products are Good Cashmere Standard (GCS) certified.

The Good Cashmere Standard is an independent benchmark that supports the welfare of cashmere goats, responsible land management, and the rights and well-being of herders and farmers.

By working with GCS-certified cashmere, Palome helps ensure that each piece is rooted in care, from fibre to finished garment.

Pilling Care

  1. As cashmere is worn and ages, it becomes more beautiful over time. You might notice a few bobbles. This is perfectly normal and requires a gentle shave with a cashmere comb to remove any pills.
  2. Remove pills using a cashmere comb or fabric shaver designed for delicate knits.
  3. Lay the garment flat and brush lightly in one direction; never pull or press hard.
  4. Rotate your cashmere pieces between wears to let fibres recover.
  5. With time, your cashmere will become softer and more and more, like a warm hug.

Washing

  1. Hand wash in cool water (below 30'C / 86'F) with a gentle cashmere detergent.
  2. Avoid twisting or rubbing; press softly to cleanse.
  3. Professional dry cleaning is also recommended.
  4. Cashmere is a naturally hydrophilic fibre. Gentle washing helps relax the fibres and maintain softness over time.

Drying

  1. Do not wring. Gently press with a towel to remove excess water.
  2. Lay flat to dry, reshaping while damp.
  3. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat. Never tumble dry.

Ironing & Steaming

  1. Use a handheld steamer on a low setting.
  2. Keep a slight distance between the steamer and the knit.
  3. Gentle steam helps restore softness and smooth the surface.

Storage

  1. Always fold, never hang, to preserve shape.
  2. Store in a breathable cotton bag with cedar or lavender.
  3. Avoid sealed plastic bags to let fibres breathe.
