The Secrets of Silk

Silk is spun from fine, continuous filaments known for their smooth touch, natural sheen, and fluid drape. It is one of the most refined natural fibres used in clothing.

Soft yet remarkably strong, silk carries a quiet radiance and moves with gentle fluidity.

Naturally breathable and smooth against the skin, silk helps maintain comfort across changing temperatures, feeling cool in warmer weather and gently insulating when the air turns cooler.

Only the Highest-grade Fibres

Palome silk is sourced from high-grade fibres, carefully selected for their purity, strength, and natural beauty.

These fine, continuous filaments allow us to create silk with a smooth hand feel, fluid drape, and lasting clarity.

Every Palome silk piece carries a discreet refinement, shaped through fibre quality, careful construction, and a natural sense of ease.

Why Wear Silk?

Silk is a natural protein fibre with softness, breathability, and inner luminosity that synthetic fibres cannot replicate.

Smooth against the skin, silk adapts beautifully to the body and to the rhythm of the day, bringing lightness, comfort, and quiet polish to the everyday wardrobe.

Washing & Drying

  1. Hand-wash silk in cool water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
  2. Some styles may be machine-washed on a delicate cycle using a protective laundry bag - always check the garment’s care label.
  3. Avoid twisting or rubbing; press gently to cleanse.
  4. Press out excess water with a towel, then lay flat or hang to air dry while still damp.
  5. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat - never tumble dry.

Steaming

  1. Use a handheld steamer to smooth silk, keeping a gentle distance from the fabric.
  2. Let the steam relax the fibres gradually - avoid concentrated or prolonged heat.
  3. Keep movements light to preserve the natural sheen.
  4. If an iron is necessary, use a cool setting on the reverse side only.

Storing: Avoiding snags & Abrasions

  1. Store silk in a cool, dry space, ideally folded or hung on a padded hanger to preserve its shape.
  2. Take care when styling silk alongside jewellery or accessories, as sharp edges can catch on its fine fibres.
  3. Keep the fabric away from textured or abrasive surfaces to help preserve its smooth, uninterrupted finish.
  4. To prevent marks or fading, avoid applying fragrance directly onto the fabric.
  5. Let perfume settle fully on the skin before dressing, allowing the alcohol to evaporate and the scent to soften.
