Our Grade A cashmere is harvested by hand. Each spring, as Mongolia thaws, nomadic herders guide their cashmere goats across the plains. These animals, bred for their dense undercoats, yield one of the world’s softest fibers: Grade A cashmere.
Only a few grams can be gathered from each goat annually. Harvested gently by hand-combing, the process honours both animal and craft. The finest soft, long, and warm fibres are selected ensuring that we start with the best possible cashmere.
The raw fibre travels to our workshops, where it is washed with care and spun slowly. Nothing is rushed; each step respects the material’s quiet elegance. Our artisans then transform the yarn into refined jumpers and cardigans. Inspired by Mongolia’s earthy tones and open skies, each piece is crafted with precision.
Wearing Palome cashmere means wearing a story - from windswept steppes to expert hands. You can feel the difference.
Washing: Less is more when it comes to washing cashmere. Thanks to its natural antimicrobial properties, your jumper doesn’t need a wash after every wear, a wash every four or five wears is plenty. A night draped over a chair or on a rack (away from direct sun) will freshen your cashmere up without the need for a full wash.
When it’s time for a clean, skip the excessive dry cleaning (which can make cashmere less soft over time) and opt for a gentle hand wash. Use cold water and a mild wool detergent (even baby shampoo works in a pinch) and swirl your cashmere softly; no scrubbing, wringing, or hot water.
Drying: After washing, support the wet garment’s weight and press out excess water gently - do not twist or wring. Lay it flat on a clean towel, roll the towel up like a Swiss roll to soak up moisture, then unroll and lay your jumper flat on a dry towel or drying rack to air dry fully. Reshape the sweater while damp, coaxing it back to its chic silhouette. Never hang a wet cashmere piece – it will stretch out of shape. And no radiators or tumble dryers – high heat is the enemy of the soft, downy fibers.
Piling: Over time, you might notice tiny fluff balls (pilling) in areas of friction - don’t fret, this is normal even with the highest quality cashmere. To keep your knit looking impeccable, remove pills gently rather than pulling at them. Lay the garment flat and use a cashmere comb or sweater stone to brush away those fuzzies in one direction. Regular “sweater grooming” ensures your Palome cashmere stays gloriously smooth without thinning the fabric.
With a little care, your Palome cashmere will remain as chic, soft, and luxurious as the day you first wore it.
